SCROLL
eCommerce Marketing Lead
Gloucester, MA
Salary: +/-$100k
CPG, Food/Beverage
Our client is looking for someone to own their growing eCommerce business. That means the strategy, the numbers, and how the brand shows up wherever shoppers buy their products online.
Their media team drives shoppers to Walmart, Instacart, and other retailer sites. Your job is to make sure the brand wins the sale once they arrive. You'll set the 1–3 year eCommerce strategy, keep their digital shelf best in class, and become the in-house expert the team looks to understand where online shopping is headed.
This role is both strategic and hands-on. Some days you'll present business insights to senior leadership. Other days you'll be in Salsify making sure new content goes live correctly. If you enjoy both kinds of work, you'll love it here.
What you'll do:
Own the strategy and the business
-
Act as the day-to-day eCommerce marketing lead for retailers like Walmart and Instacart as well as local and regional players across the grocery landscape.
-
Review retailer scorecards and work with Sales on action plans.
-
Build and lead Gorton's 1–3 year eCommerce strategy, and adjust it as online retail changes.
-
Analyze eCommerce results every month. Explain why results moved, and bring senior leadership a point of view and recommendations.
-
Stay ahead of what's changing, including how AI is reshaping search (AEO/GEO). Go to conferences, read widely and bring what you learn back to the team.
Keep their digital shelf best in class
-
Brief and manage their eCommerce agency on product pages, images and other retailer content.
-
Own content syndication hands-on in Salsify, and ensure it's published correctly across every retailer.
-
Run regular competitive audits and track content scores against retailer standards.
-
Manage ratings and reviews through Bazaarvoice, including responding to consumer reviews.
Lead the brand website (about 30% of the role)
-
Work with company's web agency to maintain and improve gortons.com and their merch store, including building pages for new products.
-
Help shape future site projects, such as a possible email marketing program.
Help shape the brand
-
Join creative development for new campaigns, the weekly agency status meeting and the annual strategic agency briefing with the brand team.
Who you are:
-
Energized and all in. You're excited about this work, and it shows.
-
An owner with an entrepreneurial streak. You figure things out on your own and don't wait to be told what's next.
-
Strategic and hands-on. You can present a 3-year plan in the morning and fix a product listing in the afternoon, and you enjoy both.
-
Analytical and curious. When the numbers move, you dig into why and come with a hypothesis.
-
Growth-minded. You see this role as a step in your marketing career, and you want coaching and feedback.
-
A collaborator. You build strong relationships with Sales, the brand team and agency partners.
What you'll bring:
-
4+ years in eCommerce, digital shelf, brand management or digital marketing. CPG, consumer brand, retail, Amazon/marketplace and agency backgrounds are all welcome.
-
Experience owning or supporting a business, channel or P&L. You know how to connect strategy, goals and a plan.
-
Strong analytical skills, and you're comfortable turning data into recommendations for senior leaders.
-
The ability to manage many projects and partners at once in a fast-moving environment.
-
Clear, confident writing and speaking.
-
A bachelor's degree. An MBA is a plus.
Nice to have: Salsify experience is a strong plus. Exposure to Syndigo, Bazaarvoice, Amazon Vendor Central, Profitero or Circana is helpful. If you haven't used these tools, we'll teach you.
Why this opportunity:
-
A seat at the table early in your career. You'll join creative reviews and agency briefings, which many companies save for directors.
-
Room to grow in more than one direction. Our client helps people grow into new areas, not just move up the ladder.
-
A manager who invests in you. Expect real coaching and someone who advocates for you.
-
A culture people stay for. A big CPG brand with a team where people feel valued.
