Vice President of Marketing

We are seeking a dynamic, digitally-forward marketing leader to step into a high-impact VP of Marketing role with one of the West Coast's most iconic and beloved pizza brands. With a legacy rooted in premium ingredients, dine-in hospitality, and deep regional loyalty, this brand is at a pivotal moment — ready to reclaim its identity, modernize its marketing engine, and aggressively grow digital and delivery sales channels.

 

This is a rare opportunity to build something meaningful: own the full marketing function, lead a growing team, and partner closely with franchisees across the brand's West Coast markets. The role requires a bold thinker with the operational savvy to drive profitable same-store sales and the marketing instincts to re-energize a brand that consumers already love.

 

The brand is part of a well-capitalized, multi-concept restaurant portfolio and represents the portfolio's largest concept by unit count. This hire will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the full marketing function — paid, owned, and earned channels — with ultimate accountability for profitable same-store sales growth (SSS), brand awareness, and customer frequency.

  • Lead digital and delivery strategy, optimizing third-party delivery platforms (DoorDash, GrubHub, etc.) and owned digital channels, with a clear-eyed understanding of how to move the needle in a pizza-specific context.

  • Take ownership of LTOs (Limited Time Offers) and menu innovation, collaborating cross-functionally to build a disciplined, insight-driven pipeline of product launches.

  • Develop and manage a transparent, ROI-accountable Marketing Support Fund (MSF) budget; eliminate legacy "plug-and-play" spend in favor of market-level strategy that reflects regional variation across California, the Pacific Northwest, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas.

  • Conduct a rigorous audit of past marketing performance — digital mix reporting, sales attribution, POS data integrity — and implement modern tracking and reporting standards.

  • Build and lead a high-performing marketing team, including a Marketing Manager and a dedicated Digital Marketing Manager for the brand.

  • Manage and grow sports and influencer marketing programs to drive brand awareness and store traffic.

  • Develop and present persuasive, data-backed marketing plans to franchisees and senior leadership; navigate franchise stakeholder dynamics with confidence.

  • Ensure all marketing programs comply with franchise agreements, FDD requirements, and applicable federal and state laws.

  • Establish a clear brand identity and positioning strategy — premium ingredients, West Coast heritage, and a dining experience that stands apart from national chains.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 15+ years of progressive restaurant or hospitality marketing experience; pizza, fast casual, or full-service dine-in experience strongly preferred.

  • Deep digital and delivery expertise — candidates who have grown up on the digital/delivery side of the industry are particularly compelling for this role.

  • Proven experience managing and motivating franchise stakeholders; comfort navigating the demands of a large, vocal franchisee community.

  • Track record of building and leading high-performing marketing teams in complex, multi-unit environments.

  • Strong analytical orientation — able to evaluate sales data, digital mix reporting, and KPI performance to make and defend strategic decisions.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate with ambiguity, build structure, and move quickly.

  • Experience modernizing a legacy brand.

  • No-ego, down-to-earth leadership style; cultural fit and collaborative character are as important as technical credentials.

  • West Coast-based strongly preferred (California or Pacific Northwest); exceptional candidates elsewhere will be considered.

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.

 

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $200,000 – $220,000 (commensurate with experience)

  • Bonus: 20–25% annual target bonus

  • Remote role — West Coast presence required
